Problem getting laptop to find Ethernet card with wWin95

I recently acquired a Fujitzu Lifebook Laptop PC. It is running Windows 95. I have tried to install two different Ethernet cards without success. One was a 32 bit card made by Seimans and the second was a 16 bit card made by NetGear. Neither one would install >I called tech from both companys and they basiclly said it was because of Windows 95 even though both boxes said it would worl with'95. The Fujitzu tech say they both should work but didn'g give any tips on getting them to function.
Does anyone have any ideas?
