I bought a PC that was supposed to be darn good, top of the range stuff. The trouble is that it's slow, got rubbish graphics (compared to what i wanted) etc. How can i check what sort of hardware i actually have in this thing (bearing in mind that the shop owner who i bought it from seems to be a v. dodgy guy and i don't trust him)?

Well,
This is kinda a loose question with many answers. What is your system specs they provided and what software is performing underpar? Alot of these systems are thrown together and no updating and tweaking that is almost essential to run todays high end app's is left out. There is tons of guides out there to get your system buffed up and probably improve your performace quite a bit. Try looking at each component for a name(logo)/serial number and then do a search on the net. If that bombs for ya run the FCC number on their website and do some detective work. I could go on, but hopefully this will get you going, if you decide to keep you system.

You can download a freeware program called SiSoft Sandra and it will check your system and report what is is int.

You can download it from here
