Greetings!

I have a newly built computer that required a "fax modem" for Internet access. After installing the modem (and software), the computer still does not detect a modem device. By the way, there was no other modem device in the (bottom three) white slots on the Mother Board.
I've been told that I may need to continue downloading the software until it recognizes it (although I selected the appropriate modem device from a list). In addition, I was told to go from START-SETTINGS-CONTROL PANEL-MGR DEVICE, to see if the new modem has a yellow question mark by it. If so, I need to do something to associate the drive with the modem.

HELP PLEASE -------- ANYONE!!! [/i][/b]

Richie, why not try installing it on a different slot, and seeing if it will work now? I know it's not much, but try it, who knows?

Good luck

Acctually not a bad suggestion. Any kind of port can go bad ... changing location would be the first thing I would do before running diagnostics on everything and anything. Then I would start narrowing down the problem. Just be careful with the magnatized screw driver LOL

I have had the same think happen to me before. Moved it to a different slot and it worked fine. Usually if Windows doesn't detect new hardware then looking for more drivers isn't going to help.
